Medical camps by VKAJ
ITANAGAR, Nov 27: Medical Service Forum of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti (VKAJ) recently organized four medical camps in Changlang district from November 23 to 26. Training on house wiring
ITANAGAR, Nov 27: The 90 days house wiring training for rural unemployed youths organized by Rural Development and Heritage Society, (RDHS) Sangram under the sponsorship of NABARD, regional office concluded at Sangram yesterday.
Training on all types of residential wiring, including earthing etc. were given to 26 trainees, which also included some departmental employees.
Attending the concluding programme, Gram Panchayat Member (GPM) Hote Tamchi Kokum suggested the trainees to make good use of the acquired knowledge and be very careful while doing household wiring.
EKCCI demands immediate repair of Hari bridge
ITANAGAR, Nov 27: East Kameng Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EKCCI) has drawn the attention of the concern authority towards the deteriorating condition of Hari bridge in Seppa.
In a release, EKCCI claimed that the bridge is lying in a dilapidated condition due to years of wear and tear and lack of maintenance posing great danger to the people.
Lamenting that the condition of the bridge will never improve until it collapses in on itself, EKCCI urged upon the authority concerned for immediate repair of the bridge.

ITANAGAR, Nov 27: The school building and teachers’ quarter were inaugurated by Seppa East ZPM Raju Gyadi at Tassomora village of East Kameng in presence of Nyadang Hiffo, ASM Tassomora, AE PHED, BRC, Head GB and many others on November 26.

Pioneer journalist Ravindran is no more
ITANAGAR, Nov 27: V Ravindran Nair, one of the pioneers who worked for the cause of the print media in Arunachal Pradesh since its inception in 1988, passed away this morning after a brief illness. He was 52.
He died in his private residence around 10.30 am. After the death of his father, mother and wife, he was leading a lonely life, completely devoted to his work as a journalist besides as a visiting faculty of the mass communication department of Rajiv Gandhi University.
As the news of his untimely demise spread, shocked members of the media fraternity

“I am extremely grieved and pained at the demise of Ravindran, who has been an epitome of journalism in Arunachal Pradesh since the inception of mass media in the state,” Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said in his condolence message.
“His sudden demise has come as a shock for me and I share the grief and pain felt by the media fraternity as he was sincerely working for over two decades and was known as a face of print journalism through his qualitative reporting. He breathed his last as a true solider of the pen, far away from his homeland, in our state, which he had made his second home. Ravindranji will remain a source of inspiration to the new generation of mass media, and in him we have lost a true harbinger of the noble profession of journalism,” Tuki said while conveying his deep sense of condolence, and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Ravindran, who hailed from Palaghat in Kerala, had joined the Echo of Arunachal, three months after the first newspaper of the state was launched. Due to his perseverance and love for the profession, he rose to the rank of an associate editor. He had joined the Dawnlit Post in 1998, and there was no looking back for him since.
His health had, however, been failing him lately, and he rarely ventured out of his residence. At the time of his demise he was undergoing medical treatment.

Legislative Assembly Speaker Wanglin Lowandgong said Ravindran’s passing away has created a vacuum in the press fraternity.
‘We have lost one of the pioneers in the field of print media of the state. He will be remembered not only by the mediapersons but by the entire state,’ Lowangdong said. Expressing condolence to the bereaved family, the Speaker prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
The Kerala Kala Sanskarika Vedi has deeply mourned Ravindran’s demise. On behalf of Malayali community of the state, it expressed gratefulness to the Press fraternity for undertaking the last rites of the veteran journalist.
The students and staff of Vidyamandir, Itanagar, DRS International School, Itanagar, have also mourned the demise of the veteran journalist.
In a condolence message, both Vidyamandir and DRS International school family recalled his long association with the schools, and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
The Centre for Cultural Research and Documentation (CCRD) Sammanoy Gut Cooperative Society (SGCS) in its condolence message recalled Ravindran ‘for his selfless and dedicated approach to work and his humane touch,’ saying he would always be remembered for his lifelong dedication to the Arunachal’s print media.
‘CCRD would like to put on record the constant support, encouragement and inspiration provided by ‘Ravi Da’. With his demise CCRD has lost a father figure,’ SGCS chairperson Minoti Riba said.

the passing away of the veteran journalist, and said ‘in his death Arunachal has

‘I am personally saddened by this news and fondly recall my interactions with him,’ Prof Mibang said in his condolence message.
Faculty members and students of RGU’s mass communication department expressed deep anguish at his demise. Saluting him for being one of the founding faculty members of the department, they said that they are indebted to him for his contributions in teaching and guiding the students.
Both present and former students paid their last respects to their teacher at the APC and also attended the last rites.
The Arunachal Citizens’ Right (ACR) recalled Ravindran as ‘a true journalist having no bias towards any individual, ideology or policy.’
He was a friend to people of all ages; his flair for writing and love for journalism will be remembered. His demise is great lost the media fraternity of the state, ACR chairman Taring Mama said.
“I have lost the closest friend who stood by me in shaping the destiny of Arunachal media. As his mortal remains were swallowed by the fire, I wondered at the gospel truth death – death while Gabriel was crying that ‘the most dependable Ravi is gone after working for 18 years with me,’” editor of the Arunachal Front and APC advisor Pradeep Kumar said.
Delhi Police Joint Commissioner Robin Hibu sent his condolence to the bereaved family and the state’s media persons. ‘It is tragic that the state has lost a great journalist,’ he said.
The veteran journalist’s last rites were conducted at Laluk in Assam. Unfortunately, the Capital Complex does not have a cremation ground despite claims by leaders in the past that funds had been sanctioned for establishing one in Karsingsa. What is visible there is only a signboard.

Jaundice, malaria wreak havoc in Longding
Govt. sounds red alert
ITANAGAR, Nov 27: Severe outbreak of malaria and jaundice has wreaked havoc in Longding district. So far, atleast 128 people have reportedly died of suspected malaria, jaundice and typhoid in upper Wancho area of Longding Pumaow and Pongchau circles, claimed former minister Anok Wangsa.
Wangsa met Health Minister Atum Welly yesterday to apprise him of the grave situation and requested him to send medical team with sufficient medicines to contain the situation.

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki convened a high level meeting at his offices here this morning attended by Health Minister Atum Welly, Legislator Honchum Ngandam, Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner, Director General of Police, Health Secretary, Director Health, PHED Chief Engineer (East), PHED Executive Engineer Khonsa, Political Secretary to CM Bamang Tago and OSD to CM Dr Hatobin Mai.
The meeting assessed the situation and chalked out a strategy to oversee and implement precautionary measures immediately.
DC and DMO of the district have been directed to strictly monitor the situation and deal it with utmost urgency. The Directorate of Health Services, on receipt of the information last week, had immediately swung into action and dispatched a consignment of medicines to the district.
A water quality testing team has already left Khonsa for Longding with kits and medicines. DMO Khonsa has also been directed to depute a medical team to Longding immediately.
A medical team of Specialists from General Hospital Pasighat, Dr J Gebi and Dr T Siram along with paramedics have been detailed to take fresh stocks of medicines to the district and render treatment to the affected people.
Health Jt Director (Malaria) Dr Hage Taki, SPO (NVBDCP), has been directed to move immediately to Longding with laboratory experts. A medical team from the Arunachal State Hospital has also been directed to visit the affected places.
The Chief Minister has also ordered coordination with the Civil Aviation department to arrange evacuation of affected people by helicopter in cases demanding emergency.
The Health Minister and officials of Health Department will visit the affected places soon. Tuki has appealed the people to remain calm and avoid rumour.
“If affected report immediately to the nearest medical center and undergo treatment. Others need to take extreme precautionary measures and avoid use of contaminated water,” he appealed to the people.

ITANAGAR, Nov 27: Union Minister for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries Sharad Pawar called on Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma at Raj Bhawan here today and discussed on various issues related to agriculture and food processing industries, including establishment of veterinary college and research centres.
Highlighting the importance of domestic animals, especially Mithun in tribal society and rural communities of the State, Governor urged upon the Union Minister for establishment of Mithun Research Institute and Regional Pig Breeding Centre. He also proposed for establishment of college of Veterinary Science and Home Science in Arunachal Pradesh. Stating that many horticulture crops such as Orange, Apple, Kiwi, Large Cardamom and Ginger are produced at marketable surplus, Governor called for more food processing units for the State, proper market linkage and setting up of required infrastructure. He also gave demonstrations on solar education kits during the programme. Three sets of solar education kits were also donated to GSS Maro so that the students could be able to make their own solar energy tools with the help of the kits.
Later on the same day, the APEDA team carried out another awareness programme at Govt. Secondary School Baririjo and donated two sets of solar education kits to the school headmaster.
The team reached VKV Kuporijo this morning and conducted OAC. Around two hundred students turned up for the open demonstration of solar education kits at the school ground. Later, three sets of solar education kits were also donated to the VKV.

The next stop was JNV, Megdong where the awareness camp was also conducted in which around 50 students participated including the teaching staff and principal.
The APEDA team further handed over five sets of solar education kits to JNV principal for laboratory purposes.
The principal, in his speech, called for conducting more such programme in the coming days.

MAC will set wrong precedent
Dear Editor,
This is in apropos to the news item under the headline “Massive rally demands ADC for Mon Region”, which published on 26th November 2013 in your daily regarding the demand for creation of separate Mon Autonomous Council (MAC) for Monpa tribe of Tawang and west Kameng district to have self local governance and to preserve the culture and traditions of Monpas tribe which was initiated selfishly by Late Dorjee Khandu then Chief Minister. I am not against to the idea for creation of Mon Autonomous council nor to their demand but as a layman we feel that that Arunachal Pradesh is home to more than 20 tribes and every tribes have their own culture and traditions and also every tribes want to preserve their culture and tradition and want more development and extra GDP share. Govt has already gifted a separate department of Karmik and Adhyamik Department to preserve religion and culture of Buddhist community of Arunachal Pradesh. There is also a separate department for districts like Changlang,Tirap and Longding and still today most of common public of Arunachal don’t know the exact reasons for creation of separate department and for giving extra privileges to the people of these three districts of Changlang,Tirap and Longding and for creating a separate department for Buddhist Community as all the districts and religions are children of single mothers .Is it because they are backward???Or they have extremist like NSCN or their leaders are more powerful than others????Or the Buddhist religion is more important than other religion????Government need to answers. As a layman we feels that all the district are totally equal in terms of backwardness and development and all the religion are same and have equal importance. Now presently the Monpa brothers are demanding for separate Mon Autonomous Council to preserve the tradition and culture of Monpas and Buddhist culture and to have self local governance at Mon areas of West Kameng and Tawang district and I think that it is going to be next Andhra Pradesh and may create wrong precedent in the future. Today they are demanding for separate autonomous Council for Monpa tribe and Buddhist culture then what about the others tribes and other culture of Arunachal???The problem will arise when every single tribe starts demanding separate Autonomous council. And if every individual tribe have their self governance and regulation then what will be the role of government. This precedent may create a great mess in the future. And lastly we expect our leaders to be more liberal and work for oneness when they are in public chair like Chief Minister rather taking selfish stand for betterment of their own tribe and culture.

Tribute to veteran journalist
V Ravindran Nair, one of the pioneers who worked for the cause of the print media in Arunachal Pradesh since its inception in 1988, passed away this morning after a brief illness. He was 52 at the time of his death. He died in his private residence around 10.30 am. As the news of his untimely demise spread, shocked members of the media fraternity rushed to his residence and started preparing for his last rites. With his death, the press fraternities of state have lost a father figure.
Late Ravindran has been instrumental in popularizing print media in the state. He played a vital role in establishing newspapers like The Echo of Arunachal and Dawnlit Post at a time when people of state had no basic idea about role of media. He was completely devoted to his work as a journalist besides as a visiting faculty of the mass communication department of Rajiv Gandhi University. The member of Arunachal Times remembers the immense contribution of late Ravindran in shaping destiny of print media in the state and also condoles his untimely demise.
